Jaw Reduction

Cultural ideals of physical attractiveness are not the same for everyone. While most physical characteristics are shared the world over, differences in feature, contour and proportion do exist between people of varying ethnic backgrounds. Cosmetic surgery techniques have evolved to address the nuances between the European and ethnic physiology and to meet the needs of each individual patient.

A patient who has a heavy, overly squared or outwardly flaring mandible (which can diminish the more delicate features of the face) will commonly request a jawbone reduction. Jawbone reduction surgery reduces the size and appearance the jaw, softens a heavy jaw line and narrows the face, giving it a more oval appearance and helping the neck appear longer.

The jawbone can be reduced by non-surgical methods such as Botox injection or with surgical procedures such as shaving down the jawbone or removing part of the mandible and/or the masseter muscle or with a combination of these procedures.

Jawbone reduction can help better defined your facial features, improve the contours and natural angles of your face and give you a softer, more proportionate and balanced appearance.
