Sculptra

As medical science advances, treatments for trauma, infection, disease and aging are improving and the demand for more effective, less invasive procedures is growing. The field of cosmetic medicine is meeting this demand with ever evolving alternatives to the invasive procedures of the past.

Sculptra is a simple, cutting edge product used to improve the appearance of scars, wrinkles, skin folds, indented chin surfaces, hollowed cheeks, and sunken eyes. Sculptra can also be used in the back of hands for aging, the upper chest for deep lines and areas of depressions that may occur after liposuction.

Sculptra provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas and restoring volume while improving the contours of the face or other treated area.

Sculptra is a safe, synthetic, and biocompatible material that is injected below the surface of the skin for restoration and correction of the signs of aging and facial fat loss (lipoatrophy).

With Sculptra, tiny particles of polylactic acid are diluted in a suspension of sterile water, carefully implanted in the skin, and then molded for optimal results. The particles stimulate the formation of new collagen in the skin, adding more volume over time.

Sculptra may require several treatments, but offers the advantage of avoiding the obvious overnight change in appearance that other, more invasive cosmetic procedures can produce.

Sculptra is often used as part of a comprehensive facial rejuvenation program, which may include Botox, dermal fillers and facial muscle exercises. For many patients, this comprehensive non-surgical facial rejuvenation program can take the place of surgical procedures such as a facelift.
