Sun Damage

As we age paying attention to sun exposure becomes more important. Exposure to the ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun can damage the fibers and cells of the skin. Flat brown and black spots appear along with enlarged pores, general redness and visible small vessels. Extended exposure to UV rays can also cause the skin to bruise and tear more easily. If damage is severe and unchecked cancerous growths can form. Treating existing sun damage can improve the look of your skin and may help prevent further damage down the road.

Leif Rogers, M.D., FACS Plastic Surgery offers advanced laser treatments for those suffering from sun damage.

LASERS
CO2 creates a controlled injury to the skin triggering the body’s natural healing process and generating the grown of new cells. A carbon-dioxide laser uses concentrated, pulsating beams of light to remove areas of damaged skin layer by layer. It simultaneously heats the underlying skin or dermis stimulating growth of new collagen.
