Botox
As we age, accumulated muscle contractions of the face eventually cause wrinkles to form across the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes and just outside the nose and mouth. All of the smiling, frowning, laughing and furrowing of the brown that we do over the years creates folds in the skin that in time become the deep lines and wrinkles of an aging face. Fortunately there is a way to fight the growth of wrinkles and to smooth out the ones that have already made their appearance.
Botox cosmetic is a non-surgical treatment for frown lines, forehead creases, crow’s feet and bands in the neck. Botox is a purified toxin that when properly injected blocks muscular nerve signals, significantly slowing the facial contractions that cause wrinkles and deep lines to form. Results are usually seen within one week of treatment and can last up to eight months or longer.
This FDA approved product is also used to treat a number of medical conditions like severe perspiration and migraine headaches and is currently being tested to treat temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) and arthritis. As the data for Botox continues to come in, new treatments are being discovered such as non-surgical eyebrow lift and jaw reduction.
