For the purposes of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, the face is divided into three areas that can be lifted; neck and jaw, forehead and eyelids, and everything in between – referred to as the mid-face.
The mid-face is key because it is the area that communicates emotion through muscle movement. As we age, the muscles of the face begin to go slack, frown lines form, and lower eyelids can start to puff out and swell.
Candidates for a Cheek Lift/Implant
For patients looking to freshen the look of their face with more permanent results than what injectable treatments can offer – and a more subtle, less expensive, less invasive procedure than a full Facelift – a Cheek Lift may be just what you are looking for. If you have used soft tissue fillers for temporary results in the past, implants offer a permanent solution.
If you are struggling with loss of facial structure due to age, injury or disease, or are simply interested in improving the contours of your cheeks, implants can provide the fullness and proportion you need to feel your best. Cheek Implants can improve the projection of the cheekbones and add volume to flat or recessed planes in the face. Implants are made from special bio-compatible materials such as silicon and polyethylene and are made to fit any anatomy. There are many options for materials and placement, and Dr. Rogers will work closely with you to help you make the best choices for your anatomy.
There are three basic physical elements that define the appearance of the face: bones, soft tissues, and skin. Implants can help address contour and size issues with the bones and soft tissues. Implant surgery can be performed alone or in combination with other surgical procedures, such as a Facelift, Eyelid Surgery, or Nasal Refinement.
A Cheek Lift targets the deeper layers in the area between the two corners of the eyes and the corners of the mouth. The tissues in this area are pulled up and re-positioned, in order to tighten and smooth the skin, and give the face a natural and more youthful appearance. A Cheek Lift can flatten the folds around the mouth and lift sagging cheeks, which helps minimize the appearance of marionette lines and jowls. A Cheek Lift can be performed on its own or in conjunction with other procedures such as a Neck Lift or Eyelid Surgery.
Because a Cheek Lift causes less trauma to the flesh of the face and head, recovery time is usually shorter than with a full Facelift.
