Xeomin® is a facial filler that is injected into the facial muscle, temporarily paralyzing it and preventing it from contracting. By relaxing the muscle, Xeomin® can improve moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Many people experience lines between the eyebrows that can make them appear angry, upset, worried, or older.
When our facial muscles contract, they cause deep lines and folds in our face. Xeomin® is made of botulinum toxin type A, a non-toxic toxin that blocks nerve activity in the muscle, temporarily reducing muscle contraction. By paralyzing the muscle, Xeomin® softens wrinkles and lines.
What to Expect
A Xeomin® treatment takes less than 30 minutes in office. A needle will be used to inject Xeomin® into the muscle between your eyebrows. Patients experience minimal pain but a topical anesthetic can be applied to mitigate any discomfort. Side effects can include headache, allergic reaction, general muscle weakness, blurred vision, or drooping eyelids. Most patients see results in 3-4 days to a week and results typically last 3 months or more.
