Strength Training, Amplified

Even dedicated exercise routines sometimes plateau before reaching the definition patients are working toward. At Leif Rogers, MD, we offer EmSculpt treatments to patients in Beverly Hills and Pasadena who have built a solid fitness foundation and want to enhance muscle tone and definition beyond what diet and exercise can achieve

What Is EmSculpt?

EmSculpt uses focused electromagnetic energy to induce powerful, involuntary muscle contractions that are far more intense than those produced by voluntary exercise. These contractions stimulate significant muscle growth and strength over the course of a completed treatment series, enhancing muscle definition in your treated areas. While every patient is different, most people seeking EmSculpt are working toward the following outcomes:

  • Increased muscle definition in the abdomen or buttocks
  • Strength gains beyond what current workouts have achieved
  • A non-invasive complement to an existing fitness routine
  • Toning results without additional time spent at the gym

Why Choose Leif Rogers, MD?

EmSculpt's intensity must be calibrated to each patient's tolerance and treatment goals, and getting this wrong can lead to unsatisfactory outcomes. Our aesthetic team is trained in EmSculpt’s full capabilities, allowing us to adjust the device’s settings to match each patient's individual muscle response. Here, we design customized treatment sessions that are both effective and appropriately paced for your comfort.

All of our treatments are performed under the direct supervision of our founder, Dr. Leif Rogers, MD, FACS. As a board-certified, Ivy League-trained plastic surgeon, he’s dedicated to going over and beyond our patients’ expectations with individualized treatments and one-on-one attention every step of the way. Our practice takes a clinical approach to aesthetic care, and we’ll set realistic expectations about EmSculpt's role as a complement to fitness, not a replacement for it.

What to Expect From Your EmSculpt Treatments in Beverly Hills and Pasadena

How Contractions Build Muscle

EmSculpt's electromagnetic energy forces muscle fibers to contract at a rate and intensity that voluntary movement cannot replicate. This repeated, intense contraction pattern triggers the same muscle-building response associated with an especially demanding workout, leading to enhanced muscle definition and tone.

Sculpting the Body

EmSculpt is designed for use in areas where patients want more visible muscle definition, including the following:

  • Abdomen
  • Buttocks
  • Arms
  • Calves

During your private consultation, your aesthetician will confirm which areas of your body are best suited for treatment based on your specific fitness goals.

Designed for Your Comfort

To begin your session, your aesthetician will position the EmSculpt applicator over your treatment area and secure it comfortably in place. The device will then deliver a series of intense muscle contractions throughout your session, with intensity adjusted to your comfort level. Sessions typically last 30 minutes per treatment area.

Planning Your Treatment Schedule

Most patients complete a series of four sessions spaced several days apart to build a new foundation of strength. This is typically followed by periodic maintenance sessions every few months to sustain and build upon the muscle definition achieved during their initial series.

Recovery That Feels Like a Workout

EmSculpt's recovery closely resembles how your body feels after an intense exercise session rather than a traditional medical procedure. You may notice muscle fatigue and mild soreness in the treated area for one to two days after your session, similar to delayed-onset muscle soreness after a demanding workout.

There is no skin damage, bruising, or visible healing process involved. Most patients in Beverly Hills and Pasadena resume normal activities, including their usual exercise routines, immediately after treatment. There are no activity limitations after treatment, but you may choose to complete lighter workouts for a few days as your muscles recover.

Your Post-Treatment Process

After your EmSculpt session, we’ll share targeted aftercare guidance to help you support your muscle recovery. This plan may include the following:

  • Hydration tips to support muscle repair
  • Guidance on pairing EmSculpt with your existing exercise routine
  • Recommended workouts
  • Side effects to monitor

Throughout your treatment series, you’ll return to either our Beverly Hills or Pasadena practice for short follow-up visits with our team. There, your aesthetician will track your muscle response and adjust the device’s intensity as needed.

Definition That Builds Session by Session

Because EmSculpt strengthens muscle through repeated intense contractions, your results will build progressively throughout your treatment series. Most patients notice increased firmness and definition within two to four weeks of completing their sessions, with continued improvement over the following months.

Emsculpt Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to already exercise regularly to benefit from EmSculpt?

An existing fitness routine helps EmSculpt deliver more visible results because the treatment builds on your current muscle tone. Your aesthetician will discuss realistic expectations based on your current activity level.

Is EmSculpt painful?

Most patients describe EmSculpt's contractions as intense but not painful, similar to a demanding workout. Your aesthetician will adjust the intensity throughout your session to keep the experience comfortable and effective.

Can EmSculpt help with fat reduction as well as muscle building?

EmSculpt is designed primarily for muscle building rather than fat reduction. Patients seeking both often pair EmSculpt with a fat-reduction treatment, such as CoolSculpting, for more comprehensive results.

How soon can I exercise after an EmSculpt session?

You can resume exercise immediately after treatment, though some patients prefer to schedule sessions on rest days. Muscle fatigue, similar to that of a demanding workout, is common after an EmSculpt session.

Will my EmSculpt results look natural?

Yes. EmSculpt builds your own muscle tissue through repeated contractions, so results tend to look like the natural outcome of consistent strength training rather than surgery.
