What Is Radiesse?

Radiesse is a dermal filler that is used to treat wrinkles, fine lines, and facial folds. It is made up of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres, which are suspended in a gel-like substance. CaHA is a naturally occurring substance found in our bones, so it is considered safe for use in the body. When injected into the skin, Radiesse provides immediate volume and lift to the treatment area, where it can be used to treat smile lines (nasolabial folds), address marionette lines (the lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the chin), and add volume to the cheeks and temples. The results of your Radiesse injections can last for up to a year, depending on the individual and the treatment area.

Not only does Radiesse address fine lines, wrinkles, and deeper folds with impressive efficacy, but it also delivers results without requiring any extensive downtime or lengthy recovery period. Your injections can be completed in less than an hour, leaving you to rejoin your normal routine and enjoy your exciting results. Dr. Leif Rogers, MD, FACS, has extensive experience with a wide range of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures, and we’re excited to work with you to develop a customized treatment plan. The Radiesse Experience

Before your procedure, we advise avoiding aspirin or other blood-thinning medications for at least 1 week, as these can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising in the treatment area. The length of your Radiesse treatment will vary depending on the number of areas treated and the amount of filler injected. Most treatments take around 30 minutes to complete, after which you’ll be able to leave our office and resume your activities. During the session, you’ll be offered a topical numbing agent to keep you comfortable, after which your practitioner will carefully administer the injections with a fine-gauge needle. Your session will be done in under an hour, making this an ideal “lunch break” procedure.

Your Recovery and Results

The recovery time after the injection session is generally minimal, and most patients can return to their normal activities immediately. Some patients, however, may experience mild swelling or redness. After your session, you’ll notice an immediate plumping effect, added volume, and smoothed-out wrinkles and fine lines in the treatment area. Over time, the CaHA microspheres in the filler stimulate the body's natural collagen production so you can enjoy lasting facial rejuvenation. If you’d like to learn more about Radiesse—or if you’re interested in exploring the other treatments we offer—reach out to our Beverly Hills office and set up your initial consultation today.
