What Is Bellafill?

Bellafill® is a dermal filler used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles, acne scars, and other scars. It is a long-lasting filler composed of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres suspended in a collagen gel.

Who Qualifies for Bellafill®?

Bellafill® is generally recommended for healthy adults over 21 seeking to improve the appearance of wrinkles, folds, and scars. However, not everyone is a good candidate for Bellafill® treatment.

Individuals who have a history of severe allergies or anaphylaxis, or who are allergic to any of the ingredients in Bellafill®, should not receive the treatment. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also avoid Bellafill® injections.

In addition, individuals with an active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, or a history of bleeding disorders or autoimmune diseases, may not be suitable candidates for Bellafill® treatment.

What to Expect?

A month before your Bellafill® procedure, you must have your skin tested for allergies. If your skin shows no adverse reactions in a month, you may schedule your procedure. The skin is cleaned, and your doctor injects the filler under your wrinkles or folds.

Bellafill® contains lidocaine, an anesthetic, so the procedure is not painful. There is no downtime, and side effects are rare thanks to pre-testing. Side effects can include mild bruising and redness, which typically subsides in a few days. Most patients require two treatments, which can be scheduled 3-6 weeks apart.
