A month before your Bellafill® procedure, you must have your skin tested for allergies. If your skin shows no adverse reactions in a month, you may schedule your procedure. The skin is cleaned, and your doctor injects the filler under your wrinkles or folds. Bellafill® contains lidocaine, an anesthetic, so the procedure is not painful. There is no downtime, and side effects are rare because of the pre-testing. Side effects can include mild bruising and redness, which typically subsides in a few days.
Most patients require two treatments, which can be scheduled 3-6 weeks apart. Before receiving Bellafill®, patients will undergo a thorough evaluation with a healthcare professional to determine if they are a good candidate for the treatment. The healthcare professional will also discuss the risks and benefits of the treatment, as well as any potential side effects, to help the patient make an informed decision.
